Removing coatings with a
concrete grinder
With a concrete grinder, you can
remove old floor coatings, level the
concrete beneath and at the same
time create a perfect surface for
further preparations of your floor.
HTC concrete grinder for
rough concrete grinding
Concrete can vary in properties a
great deal. When you use a concrete
grinder for hard concrete, a segment
with a softer bond than the standard
type is required. On the other hand,
soft concrete requires a hard bond
to avoid excessive wear of the
tools. Therefore, always check the
wear of the segments after a while,
to see that no abnormal wear occurs.
If so, see if another type of tool
works better with your specific type
of floor and grinder.
Before starting the concrete
grinding, check the floor for bolts
or other metallic obstacles and
remove them, as they can destroy
your segments.
As a preparation for a carpet or
thicker coating, a coarser single
stage grinding is normally adequate.
For a thin coating or paint, a
follow up with a finer segment is
required. Alternative segments are
available for different concrete
properties as well.
Finally, if you find you have an
extremely hard concrete floor,
causing glazing even with the
correct tools, try to wet the floor,
since damp concrete is much easier
to grind.

Perfect in a home
environment!
HTC Superfloor• finish is can be
used on both existing concrete
floors with or without coatings and
for new buildings in the
construction phase. For the existing
floors, the final appearance is
dependent on how the concrete floor
was made with regard to the colour
of the cement, the type and amount
of aggregate used and how much of
the aggregate it is possible to
expose after grinding.
Existing concrete floors can often
be ground to the quality of a HTC
Superfloor• using diamond tools and
concrete polishers from HTC. For
newly cast concrete floors, the
different possibilities for creating
an elegant floor are endless. Read
more about HTC Superfloor• in the
Floor Solution section.
To create an HTC Superfloor• you
start with a common concrete
surface. The first step is to remove
any old coatings on the surface.
When this is done, you continue with
the correct guides for HTC
Superfloor• depending on the type of
concrete.

Wooden floors are becoming more and
more popular. This means an
increasing demand on you as an
entrepreneur to be able to handle
such surfaces. By using the EZwood
concept, you will be able to handle
all your wooden floor problems.
HTC can provide a solution to all
your wooden floor needs, from coarse
grinding of uneven planks to the

which gives a supreme finish. You
can handle all steps from grinding
to oiling with the same machine
without sacrificing efficiency.

The HTC method
The HTC-System will give you a
remarkable result on your granite
floors. The patented rotation
principle of an HTC diamond floor
polisher, the specially designed
granite tools and the HTC granite
buffing products guarantees a result
you can be proud of.
For wet grinding, use the SGW tools
and the EZ REP tools for polishing.
Be very careful and make sure all
grooves from the previous stage are
eliminated. Clean the floor after
every stage to remove all previously
used abrasives.
Due to the hardness of the granite,
SGW-series tools can be ordered in a
half set configuration and with a
full set of extra weights. If
increased pressure is required to
achieve the expected result use a
half set instead of the normal full
set configuration.

The polished marble floor is widely
treasured for its beautiful pattern
and the many varying hues. A
polished marble floor creates an
elegant atmosphere and with the
proper treatment, a polished marble
floor keeps its lustre for years.
The HTC method for marble
floor
As for every type of floor, HTC has
developed a special method for
marble grinding and marble polishing
to assure the quality and appearance
of the floor. The HTC method for the
grinding of marble gives the marble
floor a unique lustre, quality and
evenness. The machine•s patented
grinding head and the specially
designed diamond tools guarantee a
flawless result.
Wet method
Inspect the floor carefully to check
how level the slabs are. With small
differences (up to approximately 1
mm) in between individual slabs, a
normal SF-series tool could be used.
However, with an uneven floor, there
is a risk of chipping and a plastic
ring tool (segments embedded in a
solid plastic ring) should be used
instead for the first stages of the
grinding process. Be very careful
and make sure all grooves from the
previous stage are eliminated. Clean
the floor after every stage to
remove all previously used
abrasives. As a final step use HTC
Twister• and Twister• Floor
Conditioner.
Dry method
HTC can also give you advice for a
dry grinding procedure. This is,
however, a more difficult method not
generally used, since it is only
suitable for specific types of
marble floor.

Terrazzo is all natural, only
consisting of ballast (commonly
marble) mixed with cement. Polished
terrazzo can be found in a number of
colours, so if you wish to let your
creativity run free choose a
polished terrazzo floor.
The HTC-Method
All over the world, hundreds of HTC
grinding machines are in use for
grinding and polishing terrazzo. HTC
has developed a special method for
this type of floor and a remarkable
result is achieved thanks to the
machine•s patented grinding head and
the unique diamond tools. With the
HTC method, you substantially
increase your efficiency when
grinding terrazzo floors.
Just as important as effective
machines is the working environment.
Our grinding machines are developed
with ergonomics as a focus and our
separators guarantees a dust free
environment.
Wet method
Inspect the floors to see how even
the slabs are, especially if there
had not been a final grinding
performed at construction. With
small differences (up to
approximately 1 mm) in between
individual slabs, a normal CA-series
tool could be used. However, with an
uneven floor, there is a risk of
chipping and a plastic ring tool
(segments embedded in a solid
plastic ring) should be used for the
first stages of the grinding
instead. Be very careful and make
sure all grooves from the previous
stage are eliminated. Clean the
floor after every stage to remove
all abrasives of the previously used
coarser type. As a final stage, use
the MPC with a polishing pad.
Dry method
HTC can also give you advice for a
dry grinding procedure. This is,
however, a more difficult method not
generally used, since it is only
suitable for specific types of
marble.
